Louise’s Official Debut

I’ve been too busy and tired to blog, my brain in a fog each time I tried. But this update is long overdue and I have big news, so here it is.

Awful picture, adorable dog

The sweet, smart, lovable Louise is officially up for adoption.

It pains me to think of giving her up but Tommy the King is just not keen on sharing the throne, not even with a queen as beautiful and fabulous as Louise.

It won’t be easy to find the perfect forever home, but she has a team of good people interested in her fate. Karin Bugge wrote about her over a week ago in Altadena Patch: Finding a Home for an 'Unadoptable' Pit Bull

Sorry I didn't send out the news when the article first published - I'm behind on everything - but you can still leave a comment. In fact, it would be great if you did: it will give the piece more visibility.

Tomorrow I start pulling out all the stops on the Adopt Louise publicity campaign. Stay tuned.

  2. Thank you, Margaret. You're very kind. I have to believe there's a wonderful home out there for Louise. I just have to find it.

  4. It's great to get an update on the pups! I'm in a similar place with Sinatra. I love him, but my priority is to the dogs I'm committed to keeping already, and they wouldn't be happy with him forever. I think you made a good choice, and I'm sure there is a great home out there for her!

  5. Whenever a person or even an animal go off the grid, getting them back to a safe place is often an incredibly long and difficult task. Susan, you've done so much for Louise, just think of yourself as a great facilitator and a wonderful foster mom. Louise is very, very fortunate indeed and I know you'll find the right exact right hoomin for her.

  9. Louise is a giggly little girl with a big heart.

Maybe she needs a facebook page.

  10. Who could not adopt a cutey like Louise, especially when she poses like a Penthouse Pet.

Don't forget to put it on Craig's List. That's where I found Abby.

  12. Thanks, everyone, for the kind and supportive words.

Petrea, thanks for getting her started on FB.

And her own FB page is a grand idea. Thanks, Hiker. Craigslist too.

Bellis, Penthouse Pet, eh? You are funny! But wait... you must be talking about Tommy. He's way more comfortable in front of the camera.

    Off to see Sinatra...

  13. Good Luck Susan. Louise is an adorable dog and the person (family) who adopt her will be very lucky to have her.

  14. Susan, you gave Louise a chance when no-one else in her life at the time was prepared to. I'm kind of sad that it didn't work out between her and Tommy, but you've given her a new lease on life and I'm sure she will bring years of happiness to her new family, just as soon as they come along. With Karin and the other fine people involved helping her PR, it is just a matter of time. As for dear Tommy ~ well, he knows how to work the camera, doesn't he!

  16. Susan - FYI, i had a rescue pittie since January, and she just found the MOST AMAZING forever home a month ago -- she had super hard issues with trust....but a group class with Smart Paws' Jeanina and time she came a long way -- don't worry, it might not be today or tomorrow, but the right home will show up !

  17. Blogging isn't easy - it's writing. I'm not a writer.
But if you're not a writer, are you a reader?

  18. I think we should find the real Tommy Lee Jones and get him to help us.OR I know where Julia Roberts lives in Malibu, maybe she would help because wasn't she the original Louise?

  19. Hello Susan,
So hope you find a good home for her. She looks so sweet!

  20. Good for you for finding the right solution for you all. She's a beautiful girl - now that she's "on the market," it's just a matter of time before her forever family comes along. You've done a great thing here, from start to finish.

  21. You saved her, and now you are findnig her a home. This is wonderful. You are doing the right thing, sometimes integrating 2 dogs is really hard. I have to admit since mine are small, it was much easier. I don't think if I brought home another 60 lb pitbull instead of a 4 lb chiwawa it would have been nearly as easy. And I still do not leave them together when I am not home.

  22. Thanks, Deirdre (aka Chic & Boutique Venues). You’ve met her in person so you know her sweetness first-hand.

I know, Shell, I’m kind of sad too but I know it’s best for all involved. And I’m certain with Louise’s exceptional PR team, we’ll find a dream home for her.

loveandaleash, I wouldn’t even consider this path if it weren’t for you and all the pittie fosters you’ve placed into loving homes.

Jen, that’s great news! I was wondering if you still had her. We’ll have to talk. I want to hear the whole story.

Cafe, I beg to differ: you are a writer.

Terri, if anyone could get Tommy Lee Jones to help, it would be you. Go for it.

    Thanks, Cindy. She’s the sweetest!

Pit Bull Addict, I wish I had your talent for managing a pack of pitties, but I guess I’m just a one-pittie kind of gal.

Daisy Dog, you, too, have a talent for managing your mixed-size pack. I don't think I could accomplish that with Tommy.

  24. Could be, Chieftess, although I suspect not.
